New health and safety guidelines bring in work for GFV Goldstar

New health and safety guidelines on food hygiene and gas safety are bringing in work for GFV Goldstar, the commercial kitchens maker.
The changes mean that kitchens’ gas shut-off valves and ventilation systems are safety-assessed together. Gas safety inspectors can close kitchens that do not meet the new rules.
GFV has already provided canopies and fabrications to more than 100 schools as part of a £9.8m refurbishment involving 280 Hertfordshire schools. The company is supplying canopies and service spines — steel cabinets that protect and give easy access to gas, electric and water supplies.
Mouchel, the business services group that is managing the scheme for Hertfordshire County Council, has recognised GFV for its quality of build, quick turnaround and value for money. Mouchel said: “We need contractors we can rely on. Among those we have turned to is GFV.”
GFV, of Colchester, Essex, designs, makes and installs stainless steel worktops, benches, counters, hot cupboards and wall cladding. It has a reputation for both high quality manufacture and producing orders to meet strict deadlines.
Paul Upshall, managing director of GFV, said: “We meet Mouchel’s needs by combining value and reliability. Our team have years of experience in the delivery of high quality products to demanding deadlines.”
GFV works both independently and with other companies to produce commercial kitchens for a range of clients in hotels, restaurants, schools, care homes and hospitals. It has recently completed work on restaurants for Tony Roma’s, the growing chain of American-style steak and ribs outlets.
As well as steel kitchen units, GFV designs, manufactures and installs:
- Commercial odour control ventilation — using simple carbon filtration up to large-scale odour purification or ultra-violet systems.
- Fire-suppressing systems — in which a market-leading Ansul R-102 liquid agent system is built into a kitchen canopy.
- Stainless steel and uPVC wall cladding — giving kitchens and store areas hygienic wipe-clean walls. Cover strips and edge protection come as standard.
